The IGBB is a research institute with computational biology and wet lab components. The wet lab research at the IGBB is conducted within the IGBB Laboratories located in the Pace Building. The IGBB Laboratories are home to most of the IGBB's genomics/transcriptomics/proteomics equipment. Most of the equipment in the IGBB Labs is directly or indirectly accessible to all scientists at MS State, and hence the unit has a service center function. Most scientists elect to have IGBB's highly trained personnel operate the equipment for them. However, a few prefer to operate the machines themselves (see Service Center). Those using IGBB equipment must be trained in its use by the IGBB staff or, in some instances, through training programs offered elsewhere.
